'The Exodus 500 project has given many young people hope and the skills and confidence to meet the challenges they face in their lives. The project has shown the true strength of young people and how a project can be strengthened by allowing young people to develop, design and run a project, ensuring they are the true architects of that success'
Jerome Grace, The Big Lottery Fund Northern Ireland.
'It’s a pleasure to be able to put on record and acknowledge with thanks, the support and direct help made available to the young people that we have referred on to Bytes. Over the past year, what has been appreciated is the immediacy of response, the warmth of welcome, the unconditional positive approach and the readiness to provide both practical help and genuine relationships. You’ve set the bar high, folks. Thank you so much!‘
Andrew Baille, Practitioner, Youth Justice NI.
'...I can honestly say the professionalism of the staff was outstanding. They were always on time and ready to go. The days that there was a clash, they were quick to make contact with us and let us know so that alternative arrangements could be made, however, this rarely happened.
Their manner with the children was fantastic and they struck up really sound relationships with the students. Many of the students really benefitted from engaging with the workers in the evenings and it made a real difference to their confidence and self esteem.
All the children surpassed our expectations and achieved at least a Level 2 Award in Vocational Skills. The workers constantly went above & beyond and were flexible in their approach to get the best for the children. Nothing was ever too much trouble and we worked really well together in sharing issues and information. The 1-1 sessions really benefited the pupils and helped them to deal with circumstances they faced in their personal lives. The care and sensitivity of the workers towards the children was lovely to see.
I have really appreciated everything you have done throughout the year to help us engage some of our toughest and most vulnerable pupils. I look forward to continuing to work with you'
Senior Staff Member, Glengormley High School.
'This year a number of Year 12 students at the Academy have been given a fantastic opportunity to engage with this unique and innovative programme. The overall aim of the Peace Bytes Project is to build and embed the capacity of young people as leaders, advocates and peace builders for cross community and cross border reconciliation'
